Verily, you (believers in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism)

Verily, you (believers in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism)

strike more awful as a fear/threat in their (Jews of Bani an-Nadir) hearts than Allah (they fear you)

That is because they are a people who comprehend not (the Great Majesty and Power of Allah).

They will not fight you except (from) within fortified cities (far away) or from behind walls (fortresses, protective gear, shields, hiding places etc)

(And) their enmity among themselves is very great (vehement).

You would think they were (a) united (entity, nation, people)

but their hearts are divided,

that is because they are a people who do not reason.

They are like their immediate predecessors (the Jews of Bani Qainuqa', who suffered),

they tasted the evil result of their conduct,

and (in the Hereafter, too, there is) for them a painful torment;

(Their allies deceived them) like shaitan (satan), when he says to man: "Disbelieve in Allah."

But when he disbelieves (obeying satan),

he (i.e., the satan) says (to them when all ends),

"Indeed, I am disassociated from you (and your deeds, for I only invited you).

Indeed,

I fear Allah, Lord of the worlds.

So, the outcome for both of them is that they will be in the Fire, abiding therein eternally.

Such is the recompense of the Zalimun (i.e., oppressors, polytheists, wrong-doers, inviters to wrong, disbelievers).

(And as for you,) O you who have believed,

fear Allah.

And let every soul look to what it has put forth for tomorrow (of deeds)

- and fear Allah -

Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do.
